About Us

Salted Straw was born from a simple, meaningful beginning—a heartfelt gift from a friend coupled with a love for decorating oysters sourced from Ninigret Pond in Charlestown, Rhode Island. What started as a personal hobby has grown into a collection of handcrafted women’s clutches, totes, baskets and accessories made from authentic oyster shells, each one thoughtfully transformed into a functional piece of art. After the oyster is enjoyed, every shell is thoroughly cleaned and individually designed to reflect different personalities, occasions, and seasons, ensuring no two pieces are ever the same. Each creation balances natural beauty with intentional craftsmanship, celebrating both coastal tradition and personal expression. At the heart of Salted Straw is a commitment to giving back: a portion of all proceeds is donated to Junior League of Hartford, a not-for-profit foundation that empowers women to develop civic leadership in the surrounding community.
